For those of you who do not live full time in San Carlos but would like to enjoy the beauty that is the Sea of Cortez this club was made for you. Just imagine, you don't have to waste any of your valuable vacation time doing any maintenance, you don't have to pay any dry storage fees, you don't have any marina fees, you just have to show up and hop on the boat and take family or friends for a sail. We guarantee that the boats will be well maintained and ready to use. Simply give us at least 48 hours notice so we can check the calendar and if a boat is free it is yours. If boats are already booked we will encourage club members to allow other members aboard.  If you would like to go sailing but have no body to go with contact one of your club members and get out there. Sailing is one of the most eco-friendly sports around and San Carlos is a world class sailing destination. So don't hesitate. Don't know how to sail but would like to join? We offer club members 50% discounts on the ASA 101 basic keel boat introductory course. This course will qualify you to captain our club boats. Please contact us if your are interested. Remember the earth is 2/3 water and sea levels are rising, let's go sailing!

Not convinced?

Here is what it would cost you to have your own boat of around 28 feet here in San Carlos.

$49 dollar per month minimum dry storage fees. Yearly fee for dry storage alone depending on size of boat is  $588 dollars.

$10.50 per month per foot for dock fees so a 28 foot boat on the dock costs for one month of rental fees $294 dollars.

$6.00 dollar ramp fee in and out. If you don't want to soak your trailer in Salt Water then use the Marina crane and add $25 dollars to put in and another 25 to take out. That adds another $50 dollars to your bill if using the crane.

Ok lets talk about maintenance. You can expect to spend between 5 and 10% of the total cost of the boat in maintenance. So lets say you have a small sailboat that is worth $6500 dollars. Lets go on the low side of the maintenance formula and say 5% a year so that makes your annual maintenance costs around $325 dollars.  You are well over $1000 dollars a year no matter how you look at it and this is an extremely conservative estimate.

Now last but not least lets talk about your time actually sailing the boat.   What if the boat engine doesn't want to start or there is another issue. Well now you have to deal with either troubleshooting the problem yourself or finding a mechanic to do the work for you, thus wasting your valuable vacation time. Remember this is Mexico, the boat won't be fixed until manana and for those of you who don't know what manana means it is not tomorrow. Manana actually means sometime in the near future but definitely not right now.

Lets face it you would rather go sailing. Believe me I have been there and it isn't a fun place to be so why go through it. Give us a try.

After phase two of an extensive refit our 28 foot trimaran Chantik  is in the water

You might be able to tell from the grin on our faces that we are very happy with the performance of the boat!!! Phase three of the refit is on the way, we will be installing a carbon fiber bow sprit shortly and a very large drifter, light wind Genoa that will make Chantik one of the fastest boats in San Carlos in light wind conditions!!
